Lib Dems raise heat on government policies

Liberal Democrats are to step up attacks on government further and higher education policy.

Further and higher education spokesman Phil Willis will use next month's party conference to refocus on post-16 education reforms as well as government policy on tuition fees, student support, university funding, academic pay and career structures.

Mr Willis said he was committed to challenging the government. His stance reflects the attitude of the new party leader, Charles Kennedy (above). He said the Learning to Succeed white paper did not introduce the reforms necessary to create a genuine lifelong learning society.
