Lib Dems seek quicker teacher training

Teacher training should be streamlined by abandoning the traditional four-year bachelor of education degree, Liberal Democrats have said. Education spokesman Don Foster (above) said that the BEd should be cut to three years and should focus on the study of education and not pedagogy. Mr Foster said the main route into teaching should be through the postgraduate certificate of education, which people would take after or as part of their first degrees.
