Demonstrators set alight the main administrative block of the state university in the capital city of Togo. A clash occurred when security forces were requested by the university authorities to remove students who were protesting against non-payment of bursaries over the past six months. Students claim police burnt down the building to justify the repression and arrest of student leaders. Police have issued warrants for the arrest on arson charges of student leaders who have gone into hiding.
