Cliff Allan, head of the teaching and learning group (policy division) at the Higher Education Funding Council for England, has been appointed programme director of the new Learning and Teaching Support Network (LTSN). Mr Allen told The THES in April: "The Institute for Learning and Teaching prospectus sets out that the dissemination of good practice is best achieved through individual subjects. There is a strong synergy there. Plus, the HEFCE has a strategic objective to coordinate with other organisations, and this will strengthen the function of the ILT."
