NI rise to cost ?85m

The 1 per cent rise in national insurance contributions will increase the cost to tertiary education institutions in England by ?85 million next year. In a Commons written answer, education secretary Charles Clarke said it would cost universities ?60 million and further education colleges ?25 million more.
