A private art college based in Paphos may merge with the University of Cyprus in a move the government hopes will raise the status of fine art. Almost all Cypriots who study fine art do so in Britain, while most of the Cyprus College of Art's students are from Britain, Ireland and North America. The college has close links with British institutions.
