* Oxford University has hit back at a survey that placed it seventh in a graduate employment league table, which was topped by Cambridge. Oxford vice chancellor Colin Lucas stressed this week that the survey, by the private tutorial college Mander Portman Woodward, was based on just 52 responses from blue-chip graduate employers. "Our most recent figures, based on responses from 80 per cent of our 1998 graduates, show that only 1.9 per cent of them were still seeking work six months after graduating," he said. This compares with 3 per cent at Cambridge and a national average of about 5 per cent, he added.
