Chemsoc, the chemical societies network, has launched the web-based European Network for Chemistry. It will open a forum for the 50 European chemical societies and will be the internet centre of chemical resources and information for more than 500,000 European chemists.

The network aims to provide a wider point of focus for EU developments in the wake of recent merger and acquisition activity in the chemical industry. These developments are complemented by cross-border funding and collaboration on a deeper level between academic institutions and universities in Europe. The network will provide information on chemical initiatives and projects from the European Union as well as careers advice and links, online discussion groups, conference registration and facilities that let visitors buy books, journals and other services from the chemical societies.
