Scottish post-16 funding may get review

Post-16 students excluded from Scotland's independent inquiry into undergraduate and postgraduate finance may soon have their own review.

Henry McLeish, Scotland's minister for enterprise and lifelong learning, this week told the Scottish Parliament's enterprise and lifelong learning committee that he will ask his officials to investigate post-16 funding in general. He said he believed lack of funding was keeping potential students from taking up courses.

But he said it was encouraging that more Scots were taking advantage of the New Deal's educational aspects than others in the United Kingdom.
