Scuba louts critiqued

Women are more responsible scuba divers than men, according to a Hull University study. Mandy Shackleton, a masters student from the university's Centre for Environmental and Marine Sciences, said that men are more likely to behave irresponsibly in the water and damage coral through a lack of buoyancy control. "When men go diving, they experience 'sensation-seeking'. This triggers a chain reaction of hormones - cortisol, testosterone and, finally, adrenalin. The combination of these three results in erratic, dangerous diving," she said.
