Striking Scots balloted on compromise deal

The Educational Institute of Scotland is balloting its members on a compromise deal in its dispute with the management of Scotland's new universities over contracts for new staff.

The new deal is believed to cut leave by 15 rather than 20 days and to include commitments on trade union recognition. The EIS is not making any recommendation to its members to either accept or reject the proposal.
