UK physicists crack mouse brain puzzle

A challenge to the world's scientists to crack an artificial brain puzzle was met by a group of young British physicists in just one hour.

David MacKay and colleagues at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge University, were declared winners of the $500 competition yesterday. The puzzle was to explain how a simulated mouse brain created by two neuroscientists was capable of speech recognition.
