New classrooms designed to "break down the barriers between students and lecturers" have opened at the University of Lincoln. In 17 rooms on the university's Brayford Pool campus, rows of desks have been replaced with soft furniture, and glass walls allow students to see into the neighbouring room and develop a "greater sense of solidarity" with their peers. Created at a cost of ?300,000, the spaces are part of the national "Learning Landscapes" project aimed at developing better ways of teaching and learning within British universities.
