University of Manchester - Charity boost for cancer work

A ?1.6 million grant from Leukaemia Research to fund work analysing a wide range of cancer-causing genes has been won by the University of Manchester. Leukaemia Research currently provides more than ?3.6 million in funding to the School of Cancer and Imaging Sciences, aiding research in other areas of the Manchester Cancer Research Centre. Tony Whetton, professor of cancer cell biology, said: "In the past few years, we have developed a multidisciplinary research approach, employing cutting-edge technologies to take basic research towards clinical relevance as swiftly as possible."
