Waive fees for caring professions, says AUT

TUITION fees should be waived for all students who enter careers such as teaching and medicine, the Association of University Teachers said this week. Graduates who join such professions will find themselves in a "poverty trap", with years of additional training, and low salaries, the AUT said. General secretary David Triesman said: "Students with good A levels and a desire to serve the community should have their fees paid by the community."
