Oxford University has referred the case of Andrew Wilkie to its disciplinary panel, known as the visitatorial board. Professor Wilkie's dislike of Israeli policy led him to reject an Israeli student, stating that he did not want to take on anyone who had served in the Israeli army.

The board has the power to recommend dismissal. A statement from Oxford said: "The University of Oxford is appalled that any member of staff should have responded to an inquiry from a potential student in the terms in which Professor Wilkie emailed Amit Duvshani on 23 June."
