Founded in 1978, the Adventist University of Central Africa offers a Christian holistic education. The university operates on the basis of the Seventh-day Adventist view. 
The university operates across three campuses and offers degree programmes across five faculties: theology, health sciences, business administration, information technology, and education. Both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes can be studied, as well as professional courses such as English language proficiency, and certified ethical hacking. 
All of the university’s degree programmes are taught through in English. Students come from across Rwanda and five other countries. 
The university’s main campus, Masoro, is located in Kigali, Rwanda, with the secondary campuses of Gishushu in Kigali City, and Ngoma in the Karongi District in the Western Province.

The Division of Linguistics and Multilingual Studies invites applications for a full-time lecturer position. The appointment will be on an initial 3-year contract, with possibility of renewal and promotion. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Linguistics, and possess relevant teaching experience at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Candidates should specialise in one or more core areas of linguistics including, but not limited to phonetics/phonology, morphology/syntax, semantics/pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics.

The teaching load for a lectureship is 3-4 courses per semester. The appointed candidate is expected to coordinate and teach a range of core and elective courses in the LMS undergraduate curriculum, as well as the Masters of Arts in Linguistics (MALing) Program.? The candidate will also be expected to supervise final year undergraduate theses. While this is a teaching position, a demonstrated commitment and track record of research excellence will be an advantage.

We are looking for an Events Manager to work across both the Policy Institute and School for Government, where they will play a key role in ensuring our work reaches new audiences and maintaining our high public profile.?

About The Role

The successful candidate will lead on the design and delivery of a range of high-level events, including public panel discussions and lectures (both online and in-person), receptions, workshops, seminars, conferences and more. ?

These events regularly provide the opportunity to engage with senior decision-makers and public figures. For example, in recent years, we have held major events with the likes of Hillary Clinton, Julia Gillard, Tony Blair, David Miliband, John Major, John Kerry, Theresa May, Louise Casey and others.

You'll take full ownership of events from initial conception through to post-event evaluation, managing every aspect of the process. This includes securing venues, both within King’s and externally, negotiating contracts with suppliers, and coordinating intricate logistics for events hosting anywhere from intimate roundtables of 20 thought leaders to major conferences welcoming hundreds of delegates.

You'll also contribute to event marketing campaigns, working closely with our communications team to maximise attendance and media coverage, while managing delegate registration systems and stakeholder databases.

Alongside this, you will support in developing our stakeholder relations, building relationships across key sectors to ensure our work has even greater impact. This includes assisting engagement with the Policy Institute and School for Government’s Visiting Faculty, which is made up of current and former political leaders, civil servants and researchers.

You will join a friendly and hard-working team whose work regularly generates significant media attention and helps shape the political and policy debate in the UK. You'll be part of an intellectually stimulating environment where every event contributes directly to important policy conversations that matter.

The job would suit someone who’s highly organised, digitally savvy, with an excellent knowledge of politics and policy.

Given the nature of the role, and the need to work across different teams, the successful candidate will need to be flexible, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and willing to pitch in with a variety of tasks when needed. ?

This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 16 October 2026.

We offer hybrid working with an expectation to be on-site for 40% of the time. The role involves late working and travelling.

About You
