Alikhan Bokeikhan University was founded in 1996.
The university is located in Semey, a historic city situated in the eastern region of Kazakhstan.
Alikhan Bokeikhan University is organised academically into several faculties, including the Faculty of Education, Faculty of Economics and Law, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. These faculties offer a wide array of both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, designed to prepare students for successful careers upon graduation.
It established an International Relations Department that actively builds partnerships with other higher education institutions across the globe. These collaborations support student exchange, joint research, and professional development opportunities for both faculty and students.
Outside the classroom, the university organises a variety of cultural events, scientific conferences, and student-led initiatives. It has more than a dozen student organisations and regular extracurricular activities.
