The position:

Space-based observatories have opened up large, new areas of astrophysical research. By far the largest part of the electromagnetic spectrum is accessible only from space and has tremendously enriched astronomy with the discovery of new astronomical objects and previously inaccessible phenomenology. The University of Vienna has a long and successful tradition in contributing to space mission instrumentation and conducting space-based astrophysics. We seek a full professor with profound experience in astronomical space missions to lead internationally visible payload contributions and to carry out a related attractive scientific research program. We expect the professor to attract new space missions to the University of Vienna and represent Austria in the respective international mission consortia. Such space missions would in particular include new projects by the European Space Agency (ESA) for which multiple third-party funding channels are available. The professorship will profit from the well-established recognition by the national funding agency for the space program, close collaborations with other groups at the University of Vienna and the Institute for Space Research in Graz, and connections to Austrian industry.

The is a senior position in the Marketing and External Relations Directorate to provide effective leadership and management of the UK Student Recruitment Team.

The role will lead and support the development, implementation, and enhancement of all aspects of the University’s UK Student Recruitment Strategy, including development and delivery of recruitment activity and events, reporting and forecasting student numbers and targets, and development of the portfolio of programmes and courses to meet UK student demands.

The post has responsibility for the line management of 1 direct report and leadership of a recruitment team of 10+ staff to deliver recruitment activity (digitally and physically, both on, and off, campus) supporting a high quality applicant journey, from enquiry to acceptance.

The post holder will be the subject matter expert for domestic UK student recruitment, able to instil confidence across the University with relevant knowledge and professional judgement. You will have the ability to lead and develop a large team, and work collaboratively with Faculties and Directorates, ensuring that the teams works in a close and collaborative manner with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 	Fantastic opportunity for an experienced academic to work closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Regional Futures) and Vice-President to take the lead in various regional activities as well as oversee support functions for the Office of the DVC (Regional Futures) and the ECU South West.

Reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Regional Futures) and Vice-President, the Director Regional Development is a senior academic (Professor or Associate Professor level) role and will support the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Regional Futures) and its strategic goals by providing leadership for a variety of regional programs including ECU Learning Centre in Busselton, Regional Learning Hubs and providing guidance and support for the operations of SW Campus.

The position will assist ECU schools and academic disciplines to progress their regional operations and presence in line with industry demand, as well as playing a key role in identifying and co-developing new ventures and research and development opportunities, new courses, tertiary education pathways ?in the regional context, in close collaboration with, and supporting the ECU’s schools and academic disciplines.

As the newly appointed Director Regional Development the successful appointee will be a proven leader, with a strong academic track record and the ability to foster existing and new relationships with a wide range of people and organisations across a wide range of stakeholders. Working within a regional context, you will:


	Lead, develop and motivate support staff and effectively engage with academic and professional staff across the University;
	Work closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Regional Futures) to identify, pursue and capitalise on funding opportunities for regional areas;
	Provide executive briefings;
	Engage with key partners and maximise community engagement;
	Provide regional leadership by supporting ECU schools and academic entities in support of their regional priorities;
	Contribute at a senior level to designing, leading, monitoring, and reporting on the operationalisation of large-scale projects and programs that underpin the Regional Plan 2022-2026 and future strategic directions related to regional development that sustains wider State economic growth and diversification.


This role requires strong business acumen with the ability to develop and manage relationships with regional stakeholders and represent ECU's interests while demonstrating the University's values and will be required at times to deputise for the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Regional Futures).

About You

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced academic who has:


	An Associate Professor or Professor appointment in a higher education institution. ?
	Strong leadership capabilities to effectively engage, collaborate, negotiate across a range of stakeholders including team members and staff within ECU.
	An ability to foster external relationships and communications with other universities, as well as with tertiary education entities such as TAFE, distributed learning and innovation networks and other stakeholders.
	Knowledge of the issues faced by rural and remote/regional environments with demonstrated experience in leading innovation and quality improvement in learning and teaching and research.
	Sound knowledge of the Australian higher education sector.
	Capacity to develop and operationalise institutional and ECU school’s academic governance requirements.
	The ability to manage multiple projects and activities with competing deadlines.

This ongoing position attracts remuneration of $172,116 - $189,23 at Level D and –$220,621pa at Level E plus plus 17% University superannuation contribution (and relocation costs). ?

The position:

Applicants should have excellent academic qualifications in Comparative Law and Private International Law. Credentials in both areas are expected, as well as the associated ability to research and teach both of them. The familiarity with several legal systems is desirable. A specialisation in one area, such as international family law or international commercial law, is welcome; publications in uniform law and European law are an advantage. Knowledge of the German language and the Austrian legal system is not a prerequisite; however, applicants should be willing to learn German and familiarise themselves with Austrian law.
