Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) is located in rural location in Palapye, around 170 miles from the capital city, Gaborone, Botswana. The university was founded in 2005 as Botswana¡¯s first provincial university and a science and technology complement to the University of Botswana.

The university has two faculties, the faculty of engineering and technology and the faculty of sciences. There is also the centre for business management, entrepreneurship and general education. Within these two faculties students can take a range of courses including mining and geological engineering, earth and environmental sciences, physics and astronomy and chemical and forensic sciences among many others.

Courses offered at the centre for business management, entrepreneurship and general education include Chinese language and culture. The university's scientific research culture won it fifth place in the 2021 Nature Index for Botswana.

The science, engineering and technical research park was built in 2011.
