Description

The Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a motivated postdoctoral associate to work under the supervision of Prof. Marwa Chafii on physical layer security for integrated sensing and communication.

Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or any other related field.?

The positions?require experience with at least one of the following areas: Wireless Communications, Communication Theory, Optimization Theory, Signal Processing.

Excellent communication skills in English, ability to work in multidisciplinary?teams, and scientific creativity are essential.

The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Programme Officer in a busy, vibrant and supportive team within FoLSM. The post holder will provide administrative support and guidance across assessment activity for a large portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes of study.

The Programme Officer is part of a team that delivers a high quality comprehensive and professional service that meets agreed standards and expectations; providing excellent service and support for our students. ?

The role reports to the Programme Manager, with supervision from Senior Programme Officers to deliver?an accurate, compliant and timely service across a range of tasks, including supporting student and staff enquiries, delivery of exams, mark collation and marksheet production, setting up systems for coursework submission, delivery of poster days, supporting processes for mitigating circumstances, appeals and misconduct cases. ?

The post holder has a responsibility, individually and as part of the team, in ensuring systems, processes and data management are accurate and adhere to regulations, both internal, such as academic regulations and agreed procedures, and externally such as GDPR and information compliance.?

The post holder will work with academic and professional services colleagues from across Faculty Education Services, the wider Faculty and the University contributing to our high level service provision and our ethos of continual improvement to delivery.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week) and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Institute (PSEI) aims to promote policy-related research on economic development of the Mainland and Hong Kong. It will synergise resources and expertise in the Mainland and Hong Kong to strengthen research on salient issues related to the economic and financial development of the two places. It will also provide research consultancy on industry and economic policies, in addition to offering policy advice to the authorities to foster mutual prosperity of the Mainland and Hong Kong.

The Institute is seeking an outstanding scholar with distinguished scholarly accomplishment in research, teaching and knowledge exchange in the field of policy-related research on economic development of the Mainland and Hong Kong. The appointee will be appointed as a Professor in the Department of Economics and concurrently as Director of the PSEI.

The Director of PSEI will be expected to (i) provide strategic direction and leadership for the operation of the Institute to ensure research quality and effectiveness; (ii) formulate and implement strategies for networking and building rapport with academia, business sector, industries and other related stakeholders; (iii) explore new collaboration opportunities with community partners and stakeholders and (iv) identify and secure funding opportunities through grants, partnerships and sponsorships to support the research projects/programmes and various activities of the Institute.

General Requirements

Applicants should have a PhD degree in Economics or relevant discipline, with substantial teaching experience and excellent track record in research and scholarly activities. Good networking capability and ability to establish linkages with the business sector, industries and other research stakeholders would be a definite advantage.

Salary and Benefits

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Your personal sphere of influence The research group?“Atmospheric Transport Processes”, led by Prof. Andreas Stohl, is part of the?Department of Meteorology and Geophysics. The group develops the Lagrangian transport model FLEXPART and studies all aspects of transport in the atmosphere, ranging from greenhouse gases to pollutants, water vapour and heat, and uses inverse modelling techniques to determine sources of greenhouse gases, air pollutants and radionuclides.

We seek a highly motivated candidate to pursue his/her doctoral thesis within the research fields covered by our research group. These could be, for instance, theoretical and numerical improvements of FLEXPART, development of new application fields for the model, or applications of the model in existing application fields such as transport of heat and/or water in the atmosphere during extreme meteorological events; climatological analyses of air/heat/water transport using an existing Lagrangian re-analysis; development of a new Lagrangian re-analysis based on the forthcoming ERA6 reanalysis; inverse modelling of greenhouse gases, radionuclides or air pollutants in the atmosphere. We will select the best qualified candidate and will define the exact topic of the doctoral thesis together with him/her.

The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to?4 years?if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration. Active participation in research and teaching, which means you will:

	Expert knowledge of programming, preferably in Python and/or Fortran.

The Lau China Institute, King’s College London is the largest China-focused research institute in the UK. Based within the School of Global Affairs, and one of five Global Institute’s, the Lau China Institute is home to a community of core academics and postgraduate students dedicated to enhancing knowledge and understanding of contemporary China.

As part of an ambitious outreach and engagement strategy, we aim to increase knowledge and understanding of China in the UK and beyond through multidisciplinary research, teaching and public engagement activities.

About the role

The Events Officer will play an important role in helping to meet the Institute’s strategic external engagement goals, working as part of a dynamic team, situated within the heart of London.

The Officer will support the Impact and Engagement Manager to coordinate and deliver a programme of high-impact events – including the Institute’s annual flagship events series?China Week –?as well as help to develop external and internal communications tailored to the needs of a growing national and international audience based across government, media, business and academia.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and creative individual to coordinate a range of engaging events on modern China such as lectures, film screenings and roundtables, and create and disseminate content through the website, social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram) and digital newsletter to increase our reach amongst audiences in the UK and overseas.

The successful candidate will work with academics, external partners and departments across King’s to coordinate both in-person and hybrid events to ensure they are delivered as smoothly as possible. They will be a key liaison between speakers and King’s venues and AV teams. They will be responsible for drafting event briefs for the website and ticketing platforms, monitoring ticket sales, identifying AV and catering needs, organising speaker travel and accommodation etc.

This is a full-time post and you will be offered a 1-year fixed term contract. The successful candidate will be required to work occasional evenings particularly during China Week. Flexible and hybrid working with the ability to be on campus at least 2 days a week.
