Hadhramout University was officially established in 1993 and began its academic programmes in 1995.?
The university’s main campus is situated in Mukalla City, the capital of Hadhramout Governorate in east-central Yemen.?
When the university first opened it had just three faculties: Engineering Faculty, Women’s Faculty, and Education Faculty. Today, the university is home to 15 faculties specialising in a range of subject areas including medicine and health sciences, marine biology, computer science and IT, nursing, law, and arts and humanities.?
In addition to its faculties, the university also has an advisory centre, numerous service centres and five research centres: Academic Development and Quality Assurance Centre, International Cooperation and University Ranking Centre, Environmental Studies and Water Resources Centre, Human and Social Studies Centre, and the Women’s Centre.?
Established in May 2011, the university’s International Cooperation Office is responsible for developing partnerships with other higher education institutions across the globe such as Universitas Airlangga in Indonesia and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.?

As a postdoctoral university assistant at the Department of Contemporary History, you will be involved in research and teaching in the field of “Austrian contemporary history since 1918 in an international context.”

Your future tasks:


	You will support the professorship in research, teaching, and administration and you are ready to take on tasks at the institute.
	You conduct research and write a habilitation thesis, a second book, or a project related to the professorship's thematic focus and develop an independent research profile.

Your profile:


	You have in-depth knowledge of contemporary Austrian history since 1918 and are interested in deepening and communicating this knowledge in the areas of teaching, research and public outreach.
	You are planning a habilitation, a second book or a research project in one of the following areas with a focus on Austria: research on dictatorship and transformation; historical identity formation; political history and the history of social movements; contemporary and media history. A transnational perspective (comparison, transfer, circulation) is encouraged.
	You are prepared to teach a methodology course or workshop on contemporary history and media.

The Area of Finance of the Faculty consists of 27 research-track faculty members and runs a high-quality weekly seminar series. Faculty members in the finance group have published 46 papers in JF, JFE, and RFS since 2021 (Top 13 in the world and No. 1 in Asia in UT Dallas Business School Ranking based on these three journals). ?Teaching, research, and professional activities are conducted in English. The School of Molecular Sciences is home to the Structural Biology group of Prof Charlie Bond, alongside colleagues in chemistry, biochemistry and genetics, including Prof Ian Small. The Bond and Small groups collaborate on an Australian Research Council Discovery Project on structure-function studies of pentatricopeptide repeat proteins, an area where they have had consistent national competitive grant funding for 13 years.?

About the opportunity 


	Design, overexpress, purify, and structurally analyse variant pentatricopeptide repeat proteins for controlled enzymatic RNA modification using cryo electron microscopy and crystallography.
	Work closely with project members on experimental design, data interpretation, and supervise students on a day-to-day basis.
	Collaborate with staff at the Centre for Microscopy and Analysis and actively participate in the CryoEM User Group.


About you 


	A PhD in Structural Biology or a related discipline.
	Expertise in standard molecular biology and recombinant protein expression and purification methods.
	Expertise in sample preparation, data collection and structure analysis using cryoelectron microscopy (single particle analysis).
	Track record (relative to opportunity) of reporting research as evidenced by peer reviewed journal articles published in respected scholarly journals.
	Ability to work both independently and as part of an inclusive collaborative team.
