The Instituto Superior Politécnico de Ndalatando (ISPNd) was originally founded in 2011 as the Escola Superior Politécnica do Cuanza Norte. In 2020, it was granted full autonomy through a presidential decree, becoming a public institution of higher education with administrative and financial independence.?
The institute is located in N’dalatando, the capital of Cuanza Norte.
A major new campus is under construction in the Catome de Baixo neighbourhood, set to expand capacity to over 5,000 students. The project includes 40 classrooms, labs, dormitories, sports facilities, and a modern library.
The institute is home to several faculties offering undergraduate degree programmes in a range of subject areas including public health, nursing, law, accounting, management informatics, public administration, electrical engineering, and agronomy.

Description

The Center for Smart Engineering Materials (CSEM) at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Research Assistant position to support ongoing research in the design, development, and characterization of innovative and multifunctional construction materials, including self-sensing and self-healing systems, with applications in infrastructure, oil and gas, and energy-efficient construction.


	The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of postdoctoral researchers, faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduate students on a range of projects, including:
	Investigation of self-healing cementitious materials, including chemical and bio-based approaches (e.g., bio-mineralization, encapsulated agents).
	Characterization of self-sensing materials, including their electrical and mechanical behavior under various stressors;Contribution to life-cycle assessment (LCA) and life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA) of novel materials to evaluate their environmental and economic impacts;
	Support in experimental design, data collection and analysis, and dissemination of findings through reports and publications.


Qualifications:


	A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
	Prior experience in materials synthesis, especially from industrial byproducts or brine sources, and in construction material characterization.
	Familiarity with life-cycle assessment (LCA) tools and methodologies.
	Exposure to smart materials, self-healing technologies, or sensor-integrated cementitious systems is a strong plus.
	Strong laboratory skills, data analysis capabilities, and a collaborative mindset.


Preferred Skills:


	Experience with AC impedance spectroscopy, electrical resistivity measurements, or chemical durability testing.
	Basic programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python) for data handling and sensor signal analysis.
	Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research and the ability to support multiple concurrent projects.

About the opportunity

This Clinical Trial Midwife is responsible for supporting the conduct of clinical research projects in the field of extreme heat and child and maternal health. This position will be based in the Thermal Ergonomics Laboratory which is housed in the Heat and Health Research Centre at The University of Sydney, Camperdown Campus.

We are seeking a candidate to support the clinical trial process, from planning to execution, ensuring a seamless transition through all stages. The candidate will handle data capture, verification, and overall adherence to standards while fostering relationships with research staff and stakeholders. The candidate will ensure Good Clinical Practice and that every aspect of the trial meets the highest ethical and scientific standards.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	support the end-to-end clinical trial process, assisting with the planning, initiation, and execution of trials, and ensuring smooth operations from start-up to close-out
	support data capture and verification for clinical trials, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with regulations
	build productive relationships with research and professional staff, , facilitating effective communication and collaboration
	uphold the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in all clinical trials, ensuring that ethical and scientific quality standards are met in design, conduct, recording, and reporting
	champion a proactive approach to health and safety, review and provide feedback on work area protocols, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent safety standards across tasks and projects.
	Use critical thinking and problem solving to analyse midwifery practice to provide safe, appropriate and responsive quality support to research trial participants. Respond effectively to emergency situations and the change status of patients as required
	Undertake other duties within the classification level as required.


About you

This post will be based in the Health Service and Population Research Department within the School of Mental Health and Psychological Sciences and affiliated with King’s Women’s Mental Health (KWMH)– a leading centre for research on violence, abuse, and mental health. The successful candidate will also be part of the King’s Qualitative Applied Health Research Centre (QUAHRC), a vibrant interdisciplinary hub dedicated to advancing rigorous and innovative qualitative research in health.

About the role:

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Participatory Research to join an exciting National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) project that investigates and seeks to enhance the mental wellbeing of survivors of coercive control. This unique study has been co-developed with the Violence, Abuse and Mental Health Network’s (VAMHN) Lived Experience Action Group (LEAG) and aims to build a theoretical framework for recovery and wellbeing that will inform the design of future interventions and services.

The postholder will play a central role in supporting and training peer researchers, collecting and analysing qualitative data, and leading on the development of the theoretical framework. They will work closely with the wider project team to ensure that survivor perspectives shape the research process and outcomes, and will contribute to dissemination through academic publications, conferences, and non-academic outputs such as policy briefings and creative engagement.

The role will report to Dr Sharli Paphitis, Senior Research Fellow in Qualitative Methods, and will be embedded in a collaborative, supportive environment that values participatory and trauma-informed approaches. King’s Women’s Mental Health and VAMHN are committed to creating a workplace that prioritises wellbeing, offers flexibility, and actively welcomes applications from those with lived experience of violence, abuse, or mental health challenges.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge, survivor-centred research with real-world impact, while developing your own academic skills and profile within a world-class research institution.
