Assistant Professor of Teaching
School of Interdisciplinary Studies

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies (SIS) was established to deepen interdisciplinary studies and scholarly collaboration. The SIS houses a number of interdisciplinary undergraduate programmes. The appointee will join the teaching team of the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) in Public Management and Smart Governance (PMSG) and is expected to contribute to high quality teaching.

The appointee will be expected to teach courses in Public Management, Data Analytics, Housing Policy, and Public Finance, as well as engage in student advising and mentoring. The appointee will also assume the role of Programme Director for PMSG. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in programme management and development.

Requirements

Candidates should have (i) a doctoral degree in relevant disciplines; (ii) a minimum of 3 years’ experience in teaching relevant courses and relevant programme administrative experience; and (iii) good command of English and Chinese (including Mandarin).

Requirements

The appointee will teach undergraduate philosophy courses, supervise undergraduate final projects, and contribute to the service and development of the Department.

Teaching: The appointee will have a standard teaching load of ten courses per year (30 hours per year), distributed according to the needs of the Department and upon mutual agreement. English will be the language of instruction. If necessary, the appointee might be required to supervise students’ capstone projects.

Service: The appointee will perform administrative duties as assigned by the Head of the Department, if any.

We are looking for two enthusiastic HR professionals to join our employee relations team. ?

The roles

We have two fixed term opportunities, one for 6 months, full time, and one for 2 years offered on a part time basis at 0.8FTE.

The role is accountable for employee relations casework and consultations to achieve appropriate resolution, balancing the interests and needs of both the individual and the business. Employee Relations Managers provide interpretive advice to ensure compliance with University employment procedures and employment legislation. The role will work closely with the HR Business Partner, senior management and the University's recognised trade unions, to deliver and support the case management of employee relations issues.

What we’re looking for

Our successful candidates will be passionate about employee relations, and ideally have previous experience working in a similar role, with up to date knowledge of employee relations best practice and the application of employment legislation. You will have the ability to take a proactive and leading role in progressing case work, and be a strong team player who can work well across different teams.

You will be able to demonstrate a proven ability to guide stakeholders through the management of complex and potentially contentious employee relations issues, whilst effectively being able to plan, manage and prioritise an extensive and varied caseload and/or workload to agreed deadlines and quality standards.?

To be successful in this position, you'll have:


	Expert knowledge of assessment requirements of Training Package qualifications and accredited courses i.e. vocational education competency-based training, ASQA, AQF and CRICOS requirements.
	Experience in the development of training & assessment tools applicable to a range of business programs or disciplines in a vocational educational setting.
	Highly developed skills in vocational assessment design and mapping assessment tools to the training package units of competency I.e. elements, performance criteria, skills, knowledge and assessment conditions and/or range statement and principles of assessment (Reliability, Fairness, Flexibility and Validity) and rules of evidence (Validity, Currency, Sufficiency and Authenticity).
	Experience in project management in education environments, exposure to Agile methodology (preferred but not mandatory), proven ability to meet deadlines and project milestones.
	Excellent communication skills and teamwork to influence improvements in assessment compliance and learning and teaching outcomes.
	Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work collaboratively with staff across all levels from a coaching and development perspective.


Qualifications

An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 5 Diploma or above in teaching and learning which includes supervised teaching practice and studies in teaching methodology or equivalent qualification accepted by the University.

We are launching the LU Presidential Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Scheme (PPRF) and invite applications from early career researchers from all over the world. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with our academics in a supportive and dynamic research environment. The University will provide them with the resources, expertise, and mentorship to achieve their research goals.

Eligibility

Applicants should have obtained / been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification, and the PhD degree should have been received no more than three years prior to the start of the Fellowship. They are expected to have a good research track record and demonstrate good potential in publishing high quality papers.

Duration and Requirements of the Fellowship

The duration of the Fellowship will normally be three years. The appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of 1 year, and further appointment for a period of 2 years is subject to the appointee’s satisfactory performance.

The appointees are required to submit applications for the RGC Junior Research Fellow Scheme (JRFS) or the JC STEM Early Career Research Fellowship for Translation and Application (JC STEM ECRF), and are encouraged to apply for other local / overseas grants or fellowship schemes.

Terms and Benefits

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointees. The appointees will also be provided with research funding of HK$10,000 per year to support their research activities.
