About the role

As Research Fellow, you will support research activities within the Aquatic Environmental Stress research group (AQUEST) including the Aquatic Pollution Prevention Partnership (A3P) with Melbourne Water. Key responsibilities will include managing three key projects, planning and executing fieldwork activities, data collation and analysis, and preparation of technical reports, peer-reviewed journal articles and presentations. You will also be responsible for reporting back to the Project working groups on progress for each project.

To be successful in this position, you will have:


	Demonstrated extensive experience in project management, particularly managing large-scale projects with industry
	Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and technical reports in the field
	Demonstrated ability to work in the field in aquatic/terrestrial environments. This can include working multiple days in the field
	Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners
	Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required
	Demonstrated high level communication skills
	Demonstrated ability of working with large datasets


Mandatory:


	Extensive environmental project management experience
	PhD or equivalent in ecotoxicology, environmental chemistry or environmental science
	Unrestricted working rights in Australia required as Visa sponsorship is not available for this role
	Valid Victorian Driver's license or equivalent

The Position

The Postdoctoral Fellow position forms an integral part of a team to work on an exciting Australian Research Council (ARC) Georgina Sweet Australian Laureate Fellowship program - Nanoscale-interactions making future functional materials more powerful. The project aims to develop new method that adapts the structural and chemical information at different length scales into traditional crystallography, allowing to build a precise chemistry-structure-property relation of functional materials, more generally all solid-state materials, revolutionising the material science and facilitating future materials design and development. This project is in the stage two phase, which requires a researcher to work on low dimensional materials/ultra-thin ferroelectric/magnetic films using developed methodology to facilitate new materials and devices design for emerging technology applications. It is expected that the selected candidate will collaboratively work together with crystallographers, materials chemists and physicists, electron microscopists, computational scientists, including experts in machine learning and Al.

The Trabolsi Research Group at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a research scientist position focused on the development of covalent organic frameworks (COFs)-based adsorbents and membranes for advanced water purification technologies.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will lead?innovative and interdisciplinary research?focused on optimizing the application of responsive covalent organic frameworks (COFs) for diverse challenges in?water treatment, health, and energy. This role will emphasize the?directed synthesis and structural design?of COFs tailored to achieve high selectivity and efficiency in targeted applications. In particular, the candidate will develop COFs engineered for the selective removal of specific contaminants from water, and will conduct?comprehensive mechanistic studies?of their molecular interactions with a range of emerging pollutants, including pharmaceuticals, endocrine disruptors, and persistent organic compounds. Beyond environmental applications, the project also envisions extending responsive COF platforms to?biomedical and energy-related systems, leveraging their tunable porosity, functional diversity, and dynamic responsiveness. The candidate will be expected to integrate?advanced characterization techniques, computational modeling, and performance evaluation?to drive fundamental understanding as well as practical implementation of these materials.
