We are seeking a Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Operations, Change and Innovation). This role is a senior leader in the organisation, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, and with responsibility for ensuring effective university-wide operations, including delivery of transformation, continuous improvement and efficient and effective professional support for colleagues. The role provides strategic leadership and management across Faculty Operations in our seven Faculties and leads the Transformation Office which oversees all major organisational and IT change programmes. Working in partnership with the COO leadership team and senior colleagues from across the University, the Deputy Chief Operating Officer is responsible for prompting and driving innovation across the COO portfolio and the wider Professional Services, to ensure we deliver efficient, effective and user focussed services to our staff and student community. The role works in close partnership with our academic community and is grounded in a philosophy of active partnership and cross functional working.

The successful candidate will be a strategic and innovative leader with a proven ability to lead high performing teams and individuals with responsibility for complex and wide-ranging services that support both students and academic staff. You will have a strong orientation around large scale organisational, process and systems change, and significant experience of driving operational delivery in a large complex institution. You will be an experienced, values led leader with a good understanding of how to build capability and confidence around change and service delivery within a diverse, highly collaborative organisation.

About the role

The Executive Assistant to the CEO is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Office of the CEO, RMIT UP, through high-level administrative and secretarial support. Key responsibilities include managing communications with stakeholders, coordinating the CEO's schedule and travel arrangements, and providing operational support to the CEO and the Leadership Team. The role will involve flexible work arrangements and occasional out-of-hours support. Additionally, you will act as the Committee Secretariat for various RMIT UP Committees.

About You

You are a highly organised and proactive professional with a demonstrated ability to support senior executives in a fast-paced environment. Your strong interpersonal and communication skills enable you to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

	Extensive experience providing executive-level administrative, secretarial support and committee secretariat support.
	Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.
	A collaborative and flexible approach, with the confidence to work independently and take initiative where needed.
	Proven ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
	Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including minute-taking and preparation of professional and Committee documentation.
	High-level digital literacy, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite and MS Teams.

Department of Health Technology and Informatics

The Department of Health Technology and Informatics is comprised of Medical Laboratory Science and Radiography, two well-established healthcare disciplines whose tertiary education has a long history of over 40 years in Hong Kong. ?The unique combination of these two healthcare disciplines in one department enables us to share expertise across the two disciplines and excel in both research and education programmes. ?More information about the Department is available on the departmental website at?www.polyu.edu.hk/hti/.

We are looking for a highly motivated personnel with expertise in bioinformatics, neuroimaging, machine learning, mental health or related fields to join our dynamic and interdisciplinary team.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) ? ?conduct cutting-edge research in bioinformatics and mental health, with a focus on brain research, neuroimaging, and AI-driven health solutions;?

(b) ? ?develop and apply machine learning and computational models to analyse large-scale health datasets;

(c) ? ?publish high-impact research in leading scientific journals and present findings at international conferences;

(d) ? ?collaborate with faculty members, clinicians and industry partners on interdisciplinary research projects;

(e) ? ?supervise postgraduate students and contribute to teaching and curriculum development;?

(f) ? ?seek external research funding to support independent and collaborative projects; and

(g) ? ?perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.?

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) ? ?have a PhD degree in Biomedical Informatics, Computational Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or a related discipline;

(b) ? ?preferably have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience;

(c) ? ?have strong publication record in high-impact journals;

(d) ? ?have expertise in bioinformatics, neuroscience, or deep learning;

(e) ? ?have demonstrated promise of a high level of creative ability in research and teaching in some subdivisions of his/her field;

(f) ? ?be highly proficient in written and spoken English;

(g) ? ?have strong communication and interpersonal skills; and?

(h) ? ?have ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.

Preference will be given to those with experience in large-scale biomedical datasets, neuroimaging (e.g., MRI, fMRI, DTI) or multi-omics analysis.

Conditions of Service
