Set up in 1793, Williams College is a private liberal arts college in Williamstown, Massachusetts, US.

The college¡¯s academic programmes are divided into languages and the arts, social sciences and science and mathematics. Williams College also offers graduate programmes in history of art and development economics.

The institution has a seven to one student to faculty ratio, which is significantly lower than most universities. 

The institution says it is a needs-blind college as it admits US students regardless of their ability to pay. This translates into a 50 per cent rate of students who receive financial aid.

The undergraduate student body is formed of about 8 per cent international students and 36 per cent US students from minority backgrounds.

Famous alumni include Pulitzer Prize winner for history James Phinney Baxter III, Elia Kazan, writer and Academy Award winning director of Gentleman¡¯s Agreement and A Streetcar Named Desire, and Richard Helms, director of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
